Welcome to the CENTRAL & WEST LANCS Telewest Section page

The CENTRAL & WEST LANCS Branch of the CWU is looking after members based throughout all the Telewest sites throughout the North-West. At present t he CWU has official recognition for BBE grade within Telewest, although the cwu is actively pursuing increasing the work areas that are recognised.

Even though the current agreement is limited to the BBE engineers at present, the Employee Relations Act gives EVERY Telewest employee the right to be accompanied by a union official at disciplinary and grievance cases.

The CENTRAL & WEST LANCS branch and the BBE grades do not want to be the only section within your company that is recognised , and the branch are currently organising to have representatives who work for Telewest in all work areas and sites, so we are asking you in what ever role you do within Telewest to join the CWU so we can bring official recognition to all parts of Telewest.

What's in it for me then?

Due to recent changes in the law, the CWU can represent you should you run in to any discipline or Grievance issues. If you have an accident whether in or out of work, the CWU can look after you legally, but we want to go further, we want to make sure we are involved in your Health & Safety and work, your pay negotiations and that changes to your working day / week are done fairly. It is, therefore, beneficial for all Telewest employees to be a member of the CWU.
